Here is the list of U.S. states that have formally banned geoengineering (intentional release of substances into the atmosphere to alter climate or weather) through enacted laws in effect as of November 12, 2025 :
Tennessee : Ban enacted (April 2024, effective July 2024)
Florida : Ban enacted (June 2025, effective July 2025)
States where geoengineering bans are under consideration (bills introduced or in committee, but not yet enacted) :
Alabama, Arizona, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana (passed House, pending Senate), South Dakota, Texas
And at least 10 others (including Minnesota, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Mississippi, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, South Carolina, and Indiana)
